One recent rainy Saturday the kids and I found ourselves without any plans or responsibilities. So of course that means find something fun to do! We headed to the lakefront to Discovery World. It is a science center and aquarium that sits right along the lake. It is packed with all kinds of knobs and gears to turn and things to listen to. N and I are listening to the sound of an engine revving at different rpms.
One of N's favorite things was an old phone booth that he could actually go in and use the phone. It didn't dawn on me until he asked what it was that he probably had never seen a phone booth. Aren't they all but obsolete since the invention of the cellular phone. Who needs a phone inside a metal box when everyone carries their phone around in their pockets? He thought it was all kinds of fun!
Miss M even enjoyed her day. She is so easy going, she could ride in her stroller for hours as long as she has something to look at and people to see!
This was another one of N's favorites. He said he felt like he was sitting outside while he was sitting in this little dome.

This was one of my favorite parts. I really don't know what was special about it but it looked pretty neat! It was a dome covered in mirrors.
This was one of the centerpieces of the museum. It ran the entire height of the building. It is a double helix structure of DNA. N wasn't very impressed by either of these things, probably because there weren't any knobs or gears to turn!
We concluded our trip to Discovery World with a walk through the aquarium. It surrounds you as you walk through a "tube" of glass. There are fish all around you. N thought it was awesome. I agreed but also found it a bit nauseating! Sorry none of my pictures of that section turned out quite right, they were all a little blurry. We also enjoyed petting stingrays and some other fish that I can't quite remember the name of!
This is a random picture of Miss M that I thought was too cute to leave out. I told you she loves that stroller. Good thing too since she spends atleast an hour in it each day in walking N back and forth to school. I am so thankful for that walk even on the coldest of days. It is a chance for me to clear my head, to think, and to pray. I have come to realize how important my time with God is and how much I and my children benefit when I make it a priority.
As promised, here is some information about the Art Museum. Recently F was invited to exhibit his work at an exhibition entitled Art of the Table. What could be more perfect than a table full of F's pizza cutters? They have been exhibited all over the country in so many museums and galleries, but we haven't had the chance to see them in such a grand setting as the Art Museum. I know he would hate me gushing on like this, but I am just so proud of how hard he works and all of his talent! The cutters looked great and it was so fun to stand off in the distance and hear other people talk about them. We overheard one couple having a discussion about whether or not they were pizza cutters. The man was certain they were but the wife couldn't be convinced! Too funny. It was such an experience!
Next event up is N's birthday! He is always so excited for his birthday, as all little kids should be! He threw us for a loop this year and saw this Harry Potter wand in the store a couple of days before his birthday. He just knew he had to have it. So who were we to argue? I know I can't make all of his dreams and wishes come true, but the few that I can are so amazing! There is little better than a happy and content child!
I had to include this last picture because it is classic N! He gets that little grin on his face so often! Sometimes it is when he knows he has done something he isn't supposed to, but other times it is just pure excitement! I'm pretty sure this is the pure excitement! Here he is celebrating his birthday with Grandma and Grandpa Flood and family!
